Snow Day Recipes

Winter can be a very difficult time for our family.  It's not that we don't look good in plaid, we do.  We also look good in pigtails, I might add.

The problem that we have with winter is that we don't like tomatoes, thus chili becomes a big problem for us.  There are always chili suppers at church where we end up only eating the cheese and oyster crackers off the top, and then my dad will make chili, and we have to do the stir it around until everyone else is done dance.  As you can see, it's a sore subject with us.  Until now!  I found this great recipe for a Southwestern chili that has no tomatoes and just a little bit of tomato paste.  It was delicious and perfect for Thursday's snow day.

One winter thing that is never a problem for us, though, is coffee cake.  I make some version of coffee cake almost every Saturday.  I had a lot of extra apples lying around this morning so I found this recipe for Apple Coffee Cake.  It was delicious...even without the brown sugar drizzle.

You might notice that with recipes I always post the link and never write the recipe up on the actual blog.  Just fyi, it is illegal to take someone else's recipe and post it as your own without giving them credit...just like you wouldn't post song lyrics without saying where you got them.  Or maybe you would, and you would turn those song lyrics in to your English teacher as a great poem that you wrote, forgetting that your teacher is from Kansas and knows country songs...just like the country song that you wrote down for your poem.  Good move.
