Good-bye 2012 and Baby Food
A little while ago, I wrote about making Lila baby food. I mentioned that it is difficult to find very many baby food recipes because it is so simple to make. I have realized that it's also difficult to find recipes because babies don't eat it for very long. Lila has decided that her New Year's resolution is to no longer eat baby food, even though her mom just made a whole new batch of mangoes and peaches. Sacrifices must be made.
So we have said good-bye to baby food and are starting to try some new foods. Her all time favorite as of yesterday was peas. I could take them to the store and feed them to her like candy when she got fussy. But as of dinner tonight, Lila's new favorite is goat cheese. That girl was grabbing it out of my hand before I could even get it on the tray.
She is also a fan of clementines, noodles, cheddar cheese, pears, carrots, and hard boiled eggs. I think we'll try foie gras tomorrow.

Mushy Peas
Before Lila started eating solids, I looked around online for recipes for baby food. I found that all of my favorite sites had one or two recipes, but that was it. I wondered why they always stopped after a few. Then I started making my own baby food and realized how extremely boring it is.

Follow these instructions explicitly:
1. Cook whatever vegetables you have in your fridge.
2. Puree them in a blender with some water.
3. Feed it to your baby who has both of her vampire teeth but not her two front teeth.

We also tried some solid cereal puffs today. After I put them on her high chair tray, Lila picked them up individually and threw them each on the floor. Then when she got a new round, she collected them in her sweaty little fists, about four or five in each. She eventually ate a few of them but only when she thought I wasn't looking.

That's Solid
Since Lila is able to sit up in her high chair now, we decided that it was time for her to try some rice cereal.
She loved it! And by loved it I mean she loved the spoon I was using and tried to eat that instead of the actual cereal.
Here's some footage of our first attempt. Yeah, yeah I know; I don't watch videos of other people's kids either. Just smile and nod when I talk about it.
