Other People's Vacation Photos

We're back from vacation in North Carolina, and since everyone loves looking at other people's vacation photos, I thought I'd post a few here.

Our foster kiddos stayed home on respite with some good friends of ours who are also foster parents, so we had some rare alone time with our little Lila Margaret.  She spent the majority of her time at the airport not looking out the window as pictured here but instead either sitting uncomfortably close to a poor little boy or sneakily running away from us into large crowds.

Our first stop was at Grammie and Grampie's house.  Lila loved playing with Allie the "puh puh," but Allie wasn't so into Lila.

Our main destination was Emerald Isle.  Johnny's parents rented a house right on the beach with its own pool.

It took Lila a little while to get warmed up to the "each," but by the end of the week, she loved running around on the sand and chasing the birds.

I think I could honestly say that Lila spent a very large portion of the trip trying on everyone's "eyes."

Lila got all kinds of attention from her Aunt Suzanne and Aunt Lauren.  We had lots of fun toys there, but one of Lila's favorite toys was the necklace she made out of the phone cord.  Safety first.

One day we went to a really cool aquarium.  Lila loved the "tur tahs."

By the end of the aquarium visit, not only did Lila refuse to ride in the stroller, but she insisted on pushing it blindly.

The best part about our family photo outside the aquarium was that when I stood Lila up next to me, she wrapped her arm around my neck and smiled.  She is so ready for prom pictures.

Johnny and I spent one night away from everyone at a little bed and breakfast in Beaufort, NC.  This was after the whole family went to Beaufort for a boat tour and had to get off the boat before it left because somebody could not handle having a life jacket on.

By the time Johnny and I got back from the vacation from our vacation, Aunt Suzanne had already turned Lila into a diva.

Another fun day trip for the Hutson clan was going to Fort Macon, a military fort built around the War of 1812.

And this is Lila being escorted out of Fort Macon.

Our vacation ended right as Topical Storm Andrea was coming in.  Tornadoes were popping up throughout the area, so us seasoned Kansans had to give everyone a few pointers.

We had a great time, and we're so grateful for Johnny's wonderful family treating us to such a fun vacation.

And now back to the reality of three babies who are very good at making messes but don't seem to speak English when it comes to cleaning them up.
