Living Room Part Two

I was giving a second look to my post Hutson Living Room Before and After, and I realized that our living room doesn't look like that anymore.  I've changed a few things and added lots of toys, so I thought I'd do a little update.

Got the rug at Costco.

Mirror from Hobby Lobby and washstand from my aunt.

There are a few decorations hiding in the corners awaiting Lila's birthday bash.

The bulletin board was one of my favorite DIY projects that I've done this year.

I got all the fabric for the pillows from Home Fabrics and Rugs on 119th and Metcalf here in Overland Park.  I've mentioned them before in projects; they are the cheapest and best around.  Way better than Jo Ann's...ick.

Anywho, we've been happy with the end results, and overall, it was a really inexpensive redo.  In the future, I really want to stain the wood floors darker.  Anyone have any advice besides don't do it?

Hutson Living Room Before and After

It is finally done!  And decorated for Christmas!

And here's our lovely Christmas tree that Johnny tied to the top of our car and set up for me.  Apparently in the suburbs you don't have to walk to Eastern State Penitentiary and carry your Christmas tree home.  I just finished making the Christmas tree skirt today.  It was so incredibly easy; check out the tutorial on my Pinterest under Holiday Decorating (click the button on the left side of the blog).  I will make one major change, however.  In the tutorial, the woman uses something like 50 sticks of hot glue to make her's...I just pinned it and used my sewing machine, probably saving a lot of burns and at least ten dollars worth of glue sticks.

This Weekend

I got a little behind this weekend on my thankfuls, so I want to catch up as we are approaching Thanksgiving week!

This Friday, I was so thankful for date nights with my husband.  We went out for Thai food and watched It's a Wonderful Life, the second installment of our Christmas Movie weekly watching.

On Saturday, I was extremely thankful that Johnny spent the entire day working on finishing painting the trim.  He finished all the windows and is almost done with the crown molding and the built-ins.  We got one set of curtains hung, and it's starting to look exactly like I wanted.

And finally for today, I am thankful for art.  I bought this print by Matte Stephens a few months ago from etsy and never got it framed until a few days ago.  Johnny and I picked it out together and now it's hanging above our bed; I think it turned out to be really cute.  I definitely recommend www.etsy.com as a great place to get cheap art as well as www.20x200.com.  I've been really pleased with all the pieces I've gotten from both places.
